Day Conner Steps down..what happens now?

Very interesting comments made by my brother, Blogger Alex in light of Sandra Day O'Conner decision to step down from the Supreme Court. I thik Blogger Dylan, in particular, as someone who unknowingly often sees eye to eye with Alex, would find the analysis interesting. But of course any and all comments are appreciated.

During the hotly contested Kerry vs. Bush battle, people were calling it the most important election in years for anumber of reasons, but a MAJOR one was because the victor was likely to make at least one (and most likely two, judicial appointments.

Well that time is upon us....let the debate begin.
