Trevor is an incredibly intelligent guy, and an incredible writer, as you can see on his trip blog, which he has been keeping for the last few months along his journey through southeast Asia. A man with a lust for adventure, Trevor is an Emory graduate with a love of books, especially those authored by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. His heroes include John Lennon, Gandhi, and Winston Churchill. There are some true fighters in that bunch, and Trevor is no different. He has fought through a lot of difficult things in his life, and he is experienced in survival training.
He is due back in a week to begin medical school at esteemed UT-Southwestern. If anyone can get through this, it's Trevor. There are helicopters and many local Sharpa tribesman looking for him along with his father in the Himalayas. I am hoping and praying for his well being. Please all of you, keep Trevor Stokol in your thoughts. I am looking forward to my next conversation with him.

I went to school with Trevor although I haven't seem him for quite a few years, I've gotten updates through his father. When his office called to reschedule because Arnie was "in Nepal searching for Trevor," I thought certainly I misheard. We are praying and eagerly awaiting word of his safe return.

Thank you everyone. Your concern is very touching and I will be sure to pass on any and all good will messages on to the Stokol family at an appropriate time should you choose to leave your name.
Unfortunately, as of today, Trevor has still not been located. I won't go into the details of the search at this time. Every effort imaginable is being made to find him. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Please tell Arnie, Barbara and Jodi that everyone at the Shearith Israel 6:00 PM minyan service are praying for the safe return of Trevor. We've thought of little else since the news came out. We are sad and worried but have tremendous faith in this awesome family. Betty Brill

My heart goes out to the Stokols and Trevor's sister Jodi. I worked at Solomon Schechter when Trevor went to school there. They are all wonderful people and I am praying for them that he will be found.

Arnie and Barbara Stokol helped us save my son's life about eight years ago. I wish I could do more for them to help save Trevor's life.

I have been a patient of Arnold Stokol's for 20 years. I started going there when I was Trevor's age. I remember Tevor and Jodi playing in the waiting room. Unfortuantely, I don't remember where I found these words, but I hope they will help you. - Donna Dalton
Rise Up From Losing a Friend
'The loss of a friend after decades of friendship leaves a deep and lasting hole in the soul. The way to rise up from such a depth is to let the separation give new perspective to the rarity of such a gift. Let the bond that filled the years roll out like a receding tide revealing small and varied treasures: shells and sand dollars, those individual likes and interests shared and gradually absorbed, one for art and travel, the other for food and music; a shark's tooth of humor; the flotsam of life's twists and turns; smooth, shining pebbles chattering of multicolored memories, and there, almost hidden in glistening seaweed, a pearl of joy, a mystery deeper than the oceanĀ the awareness that an intimacy enriched by the shared pull and draw of what is of the Spirit is not gone but endures, even now, to be perfected in the life to come."

Dear Mark,
I am the mother of another young man who was up on Everest and he went to base camp during the time that Trevor was lost. He was involved briefly in an attempt to search. He has sent me a detailed email of his journey and I would like to share the sections that mention Trevor. May I send them to you and if you care to with his parents? Blanche

I was a friend of Trevor's at Emory. He was a great guy. Although we didn't stay in contact over the years, he will always be one of my fondest memories from college. Recently I have been on a search to find the friends that I had lost contact with. I was shocked to find that Trevor was missing. I read it in the monthly Emory magazine, and immediately ran to Google to his name. My heart goes out to his family and friends. They will be in my prayers.
